About
Anna Katsur is a contemporary artist exploring socio-political and philosophical questions of the 21st century through hybrid works that move between classical oil painting and algorithmic transformation.
Her practice focuses on tensions between control and chance, authorship and co-creation, intuition and machine logic. Through painting and moving image, she explores how emotion and meaning shift when a painterly gesture passes through code.

Goose 22025
Oil on canvas · 61 × 91 cm
The Gooses unfolds as a dialogue between classical oil painting and algorithmic vision. A direct figurative motif gradually fractures into shifting colour fields and unstable forms, echoing neural image decomposition and reconstruction.

Digital transformation
This series is built around pairs of traditional oil paintings from Illusory, The Gooses, and Nothing Significant Happens Here that undergo a process of digital translation. Two physically painted canvases are merged by a neural network, producing a third image that exists between them.
The algorithm does not invent a new scene but negotiates between gestures, colours, and compositional tensions already present in the originals. At times the result appears unexpectedly precise, at others overly resolved, exposing the difference between intuitive decision-making and data-driven logic.
